6 Most Unusual and Unique Languages

There are few unique languages out of the diverse languages. And many people still speak them. These include:

Silbo Gomero

During the 19th century, the language got quite important along with the education policy. But during the 1960s and 1980s, the Silbo Gomero fell out of fashion. The Spanish middle-class people banned it because some people did not want their children to be negatively associated with this language. La Gomera, an island in the Canary Islands in the Spanish island is where Silbo Gomero is spoken. These lingoes cover sentence entire of whistling.

Silbo Gomero allows the inhabitants of La Gomero to communicate with each other in the narrow valleys that radiate through the island. It enables exchanging messages at a distance of 5 kilometers. People use Silbo Gomero for public communication. This lingo has a regular, simple, and short whistling sound. It is important in the modern era because outdoor workers use it frequently. This lingo is very efficient and useful for them. Almost all Gomera children learn to speak this language in school.

Esperanto

As indicated by the name, one might think that no such independent language exists. But according to research, there are about two million people who speak this lingo in their daily lives. The most unusual thing about this language is that it is a completely constructed language. Polish ophthalmologist L.L. Zamenhof created this language in 1887. It was his dream to make this language world’s second universal lingo. It allows people and nations to build better, neutral, and fair relationships.

Esperanto’s vocabulary and sounds are referred from the Romance and Germanic language as it is based on Indo-European language. It has no irregular verbs and easy conjugations; therefore, it is accessible to speakers of most European languages. During the 19th century, language usage was high to its peak. But later, Esperantists exclude by the speakers of the official language. And it never recovered from this disturbance.

Okinawan Language

The Okinawan language is a Ryukyuan language that people living in the Okinawa islands of Japan speak. Some people say that the linguistic influences of this language are from Proto-Japonic i.e. from the ancestors of the Japanese language and the Ryukyuan. But the Japanese government says that Okinawan is a dialect of Japanese sentences because of its influence from politics. Japanese were discriminating against it during the Meiji period. But before that, it was the independent language of the Ryukyu kingdom. Therefore, some fewer people speak the Okinawan language fluently. And most of them are quiet.

Andamanese Languages

The Andamanese languages are a pair of language families that the Andamanese people of the Andaman Islands speak in the Indian Ocean. The Andamanese language family includes Great Andamanese and Organ. Andamanese speakers are gradually decreasing because of the Andamanese’s confusing vocabulary. A chief characteristic of this language is the use of affixes (especially prefixes). They identify the function of the words of simple sentences. It has no number system; the two number words in the language mean “one” and “more than one.” It suffered extinctions because of its fewer speakers. It is unusual since it is not related to any other language.

Piraha

Piraha is a language spoken by an isolated indigenous population in northwestern Brazil. It consists of only eight consonants and three vowels. Its vocabulary is concise and short. It has few words for concepts that exist widely in other languages. There are not many words in the vocabulary to describe family members. It does not explain family further than the immediate siblings. The language usage includes only one word to describe the roles of both father and mother. Moreover, there are no such words to describe colors. Only the ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colors have specific adjectives. But the rest of the colors are determined by referencing them with some nouns (for example, blood=red).

Though there are only 300 speakers of this unique language it is still not near to extinction. Unlike the Andamanese Islands, where both English and Hindi are spoken, Piraha is a monolingual language. It means that people speak it in their everyday lives.

Poetic language

Poetic language has another name, ‘poetic devices’. As referred to the name, one can know that it is the language used in poetry. Poets use it to make their poems more appealing, more interesting, and reminiscent. This language includes literary devices, and it is much more compact than the lingo used in prose. It has importance because it adds up value to your literary work. The basic language used is that it adds up beauty, multiple layers of meaning, and vagueness to the words it uses.

It is unusual because it presents a vehicle of thought, feeling, and spirit. The main reason behind it is that the words in this language are very subtle, mysterious, and have several meanings. This lingo aims to convey truth to the readers and present facts. It is different because of its use of features like metaphors, pun, and irony. The greatest authors added new words and writing styles to make it easier for the poets to convey their message. Therefore, indigenous people still use it in their daily lives.
